Quote of the Day

The other day we were sitting around and Jared started drinking water out of my mug that I got from the hospital when I had JJ.  (I have been really trying to drink enough water like a good mommy-to-be.)  I looked at Jared, who had guzzled half of it, and said. "I am really glad we are having another baby so we can have two hospital mugs."  He looked at me with a slightly bewildered look and said, "We are going to have two kids! Oh man, I quit!"  I think it's finally hit him.

Update On Our Babies

It sounds so weird to say that: babies.  I still can't believe we are going to have two kids very soon.  We are so lucky!  This pregnancy seems to be flying by, probably because we have been so busy with work, moving, and especially JJ, to sit and countdown the days until our sweet baby girl gets here.
Speaking of sister, everything seems to be going really well.  She has a very strong heartbeat and is measuring right on schedule.  She is a little wiggle worm and seems to always be moving (which I love, but is starting to really hurt).  Sometimes at night I will snuggle up against Jared and let her kick him for awhile (which I really love). We are getting so excited to have her here and finally get to hold her and play with her and put her in all of the cute little outfits we have bought for her.
As for me, the pregnancy is going well.  I had an appointment on Monday and did the dreaded glucose test to check for gestational diabetes.  That stuff is so gross and does not make a very good breakfast, but I passed, so at least I don't have to worry about it again until next time.  I even saved a few drops and made Jared try it.  It took a little convincing, but he drank it and actually said it was pretty good, but I think it was because I was being so dramatic about how gross it was.  I also had to get my Rhogam shot at this visit (the joy of having O neg. blood), so I came home from my appointment feeling a little like a human pincushion. The good news is that I start going every two weeks now, so we are in the home-stretch!
One of the main things that helps me get through the hard parts of pregnancy is my sweet boy JJ.  He is such a joy and I can't believe how lucky I am to be his mom!  He is so smart and amazes us with all of the new things he learns every day.  His vocabulary is exploding and he is absorbing everything around him.  He loves solving new problems and can watch you do something once and then repeat it.  He is amazing!  He is also becoming more independent, spending lots of time playing by himself in his room.  Every morning and afternoon when he wakes up, he will just stay in his room playing with his toys.  He loves cars, jets, and books and there is usually a huge mess to clean up because he likes to play with all of them at once. 
I have been trying to prepare him for his new sister, but he loves babies so I don't think there will be much to worry about.  He loves to pull up my shirt and blow raspberries on my big belly and I will tell him to give sister a hug and he will put his arms around my belly and lay his head down on it.  He is such a sweetheart and it is so precious!
We have had a really fun summer and even though we haven't gotten to do as much as we hoped, we have enjoyed our summer together, making memories out of the everyday.  Things are starting to calm down and we are getting settled into a somewhat regular routine.  I am excited for the fall and all of the new changes it will bring.

Reunions, Facials and Shopping...Oh My!

It feels like there is always something going on and as a result, the summer is speeding along.  I can't believe it is already almost September!  We have been busy trying to get our new apartment organized, which seems to be a never-ending task.  Jared and I have been working crazy and conflicting schedules, so it sometimes feels like we will never have time to work together and get settled.  Things are really starting to come together, though, and our place is starting to feel like home.
On July 22 Jared and I went to my 10-year high school reunion.  I was one of those people who loved high school, so I had really been looking forward to seeing everyone again.  It was great catching up with a lot of old friends and I think Jared had fun meeting everyone and hearing my old stories fom high school.  He especially liked meeting the Spinazza boys, who are two of the funnest guys you will ever meet.  We are still laughing about some of the stuff they told us!

As part of my birthday present last year, my mom got me a gift certificate for a facial.  I have been so excited to go because I have never had one and it sounds amazing.  My mom and I had been having trouble finding time when we both had time to go, so we finally just took the day off and made a "Girls' Day" out of it.  Let me tell you-it was AWESOME! I know exactly what I want for  my birthday again this year.  The girl we went to was so cool and my face felt amazing afterward.  I did get a little uncomfortable because of my big baby belly, so I am looking forward to going again and having baby girl go with us in person.
After our facials we went and had a fabulous lunch and sat and chatted, which is one of my favorite things about lunch with my mom.  I can talk to her about anything and I am so lucky to have such a great lady in my life.  After lunch, and because it was a  girls' day, we went shopping for baby clothes.  It is finally sinking in that we are having a girl and I am really starting to have fun choosing outfits for our sweet baby girl.  We got some really cute stuff and I'm so excited to see her in all of it!
